Minneapolis Squirrel Situation: Hi David, I live in Minneapolis, I have a low slope roof with no attic. It is metal sheeting and the squirrels are going in the ends of the metal ribs. Needless to say there are lots of ends for them to get in, and they can apparently travel from one rib to the next. What do you suggest I do? Do I have to block every one of the open ends? If so, with what? I want this stopped before it gets worse. As near as we can tell there are only three animals here as yet. I would welcome any suggestions you have. Thank you. Jan
A flying squirrel got into our home. We brought the bird feeder inside at night and the squirrel was in it and we weren't aware of it. Now we have this squirrel that must be removed. Our home is a log cabin and the squirrel is located high in the rafters. Help!!!!!!!!! He must go but I prefer not to injure or kill it. I've tried glue and spring traps but it got off the glue and triggered the spring one. Is there a proper way to use these traps that I may not be doing?
Hi David, OK, so they can jump 9' horizontally. Is that on a squirrel olympic field? How far will they jump from a roof to a tree limb of ~2" diameter? All the trees around our townhome cluster plus the roof equals their playground. Is there some distance less than 9' I might cut branches from the roof that'd keep 'em from jumping from the roof to the tree? They denude my ash tree by gnawing off all the small growth, ostensibly to use for nesting and a lot of it ends up on the ground. I have a 35 year old ash with major branches that are increasingly devoid of growth because of this. Bart
Maybe 6 or 7 feet in this case. But it's REALLY hard to keep squirrels off of any roof.

I've had my roof holes fixed and haven't heard anymore squirrels in a couple of days. I am wondering and worrying if they left babies or one is trapped in there and dies -- how long would it take to notice the odor in the house. My attic is too shallow for anyone to put a trap in over the kitchen but I am worried. I got your info from your website. Thank you in advance for a reply.
