Virginia Beach Squirrel Situation: Flying squirrels have been living in my house several years. I did a renovation on one side and started to address the issue. I mixed poison w/ bird food which they have eaten until they stopped feeding on it. This lasted for 2 weeks. Also put Rat traps w/ peanut butter which caught about 6 however they kept eating the food with poison. Tried glue traps but they got off of them. I use to hear them running around at night and found their main entrance. It is closed now and I don't think they can get out if any are left. I still put Rat traps on my roof in front of their old main entrance which has caught about 10 and continue to put them out at night. It seems they are smart and don't always eat the bait. I now have tenants living on the other side of my house and want to make sure they are all gone. Also they were living in the attic in which I have no access to. Questions: Since I closed their exit holes and gave them poison would they chew a way out? Note: they entered the house through opening in the roof and I did see one run out the front door during the day. Are the ones I am catching on the roof trying to get in or do they just wondering on my house? Should I cut done the two trees growing next to my house? Do they have babies in August? How can I identify a female/mother? If you can respond it would be greatly appreciated.
