Winston Salem Squirrel Situation: I am pretty sure I have a squirrel in the attic. We can hear it and I saw it once getting into the attic through a roof vent set up to vent three ceiling vent fans. Unfortunately this large vent (usually used for the heater) has no screen in it so the squirrel simply pushed the vent ducts out of the way and got in. I can easily put screening in right now and stop the reentry. I have watched and am pretty sure the animal leaves the attic around 6:45 to 7:00 am every day so I could put precut screen inside the vent to prevent reentry, but I am concerned that if it is a female (which it most likely is) that there may be a nest with babies in it. If I can locate the nest can I remove the babies safely or should I wait until they are grown ( I have no idea when that may be). In the mean time if I wait they could be doing damage to wiring, etc. It's a toss-up and risk either way. The nest, if it is where I think it is, may be difficult to get to, even for a trained removal expert. Would a trap cage set in the attic be of any use?

Hi David- Just looking for suggestions here. I did hire a professional company to handle our problem with squirrley visitors in the attic. They re-screened the attic vents which is where we assumed they were entering. Later, we found a spot where they chewed through the fascia to gain access. New fascia and hundreds of dollars later, now they have chewed through the new soffit and have once again taken up residence in the attic. It seems like every time I remove one access point, they create another. This is getting both annoying and expensive. I'd appreciate your insight and any suggestions.
